Jean-Yves Antoine teaches Information Retrieval for IT4BI.
He received his PhD from INP Grenoble in 1994. He is currently professor at the Computer Science Dept. of Université François Rabelais Tours (UFRT), France, where he heads the Bachelor's Programme in Computer Science. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, especially databases, logic programming, natural language processing and human-machine interaction. He is also and a member of the Computer Science Laboratory of UFRT. His research interests ranges from computer science to linguistics applies to human-machine interaction applications. He is the author of publications in international conferences and journals on these subjects.

Béatrice Markhoff teaches XML and Web Technologies for IT4BI. She received her PhD from Université de Franche Comté in 1995. She is associate professor at the Computer Science Dept. of Université François Rabelais Tours. She teaches at undergraduate level (functional programming, IT service management) and postgraduate level (XML data management, knowledge engineering and semantic web). She is the head of the BSc in IT Service Management for Security. Member of LI (Computer Science Research Laboratory of UFRT), her research activities include design of lexical resource management systems, XML data management and Web-ontology-based integration systems.

Haoyuan Li teaches Data Mining for IT4BI. He received his PhD from Université Montpellier II in 2009. He is currently associate professor at the Computer Science Department of Université François Rabelais Tours (UFRT), France. He is the co-directeor of the 1st year undergraduate program of Computer Science. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, especially data mining, programming languages, compilation and operating systems. He is also and a member of the Computer Science Laboratory of UFRT. His research interests include data mining and natural language processing. He is the author of publications in international conferences and journals on these subjects.

Patrick Marcel teaches Advanced Data Warehousing and Information Retrieval for IT4BI. He received his PhD from INSA Lyon in 1998. He is currently associate professor at the Computer Science Dept. of Université François Rabelais Tours (UFRT), France, where he heads the Master's Programme in Information Systems and Business intelligence. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, especially databases, data warehousing and information retrieval. He is also and a member of the Computer Science Laboratory of UFRT. His research interests include OLAP, data mining, query personalisation and recommendation in databases. He is the author of publications in international conferences and journals on these subjects.

Agata Savary graduated from the computer science department at the University of Warsaw in 1995. In parallel, she studied applied linguistics at the University of Warsaw in 1991-93 and computational linguistics at the University of Munich in 1993-95. She received her PhD from the University of Marne-la-Vallée in France. She is currently assistant professor at the University of Tours and teaches operatings systems, computer architecture and programming at the University Institute of Technology in Blois, as well as Information Retrieval in the Erasmus Mundus IT4BI Master at the Faculty of Science. Her research interests include natural language processing, language resources and XML processing. She is an author of international publications and has a good experience in national and international research projects.

Arnaud Soulet teaches data mining for IT4BI. He received his PhD in 2006 from the University of Caen. He is currently associate professor in computer science since 2007 at Blois University Institutes of Technology attached to the University François Rabelais Tours. He mainly teaches at undergraduate, especially databases. His research interests include OLAP, data mining and machine learning.

Alberto Abelló is tenure-track 2 professor at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Polytechnical University of Catalonia). He received his PhD from UPC in 2002. He is also a member of the MPI research group (Grup de recerca en Modelització i Processament de la Informació) at the same university, specializing in software engineering, databases and information systems. His research interests are databases, database design, data warehousing, OLAP tools, ontologies and reasoning. He is the author of articles and papers presented and published in national and international conferences and journals on these subjects (e.g., Information Systems, Data and Knowledge Engineering (DKE), International Journal of Data Warehousing and Mining, Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE), International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA), International Conference on Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery (DaWaK) and International Workshop on Data Warehousing and OLAP (DOLAP). He has also served in the program committee of DaWaK and DOLAP, among others.

Marcos Eguiguren (52), PhD, Partner and Member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Empresarial Inmark, S.A. international group of consulting and professional services, specially focused in providing services to the banking industry in Spain and Latin America. Marcos is also the only Spanish member of the Supervisory Board of Triodos Bank NV, the world leading bank in sustainable and ethical banking, that was awarded the Financial Times prize 2009 as the most sustainable bank in the world. He has published articles and books on his areas of expertise. Marcos is currently professor of Business Administration at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and holds other supervisory board positions in companies in industries such as leisure, publishing and consultancy. Bachelor in Economics, Universitat de Barcelona, he also got postgraduate degrees in Business Administration, Universidad Politécnica de Madrids and IT and Business Management, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. In 2000, Marcos got his PhD in Business Administration, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya with a Thesis on the profitability of intangible investments, specially focused in Training and HR investment in large corporations. He has written many articles and essays in both Spanish and foreign publications on organization, management and the economy of training and development. He has leaded organizational and financial consulting international projects for large banks and corporations. He conceived the “3.0 Corporation” concept about companies with an ethical purpose. His book on that topic “Empresa 3.0” published in Spanish in May 2011 by Ediciones Pirámide is being extremely succesful. In the past, Marcos had been an executive in international banks and consulting firms both in Spain and abroad. He had been a professor in organization and finance in several schools such as Les Heures–Universitat de Barcelona, Idec–Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Escola Superior de Comerç Internacional–Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Carles Farré is collaborating lecturer on an open-ended contract at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC – Barcelona Tech). He received his PhD from UPC in 2003. He is also a member of the MPI research group (Grup de recerca en Modelització i Processament d’Informació) at the same university, specializing in software engineering, databases and information systems. His research interests are databases, information integration and conceptual modeling. He is the author of articles and papers presented and published in national and international conferences and journals on these subjects. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, especially web engineering, web services and advanced database topics.

Oscar Romero has an MSc and a PhD in computing from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Currently, he is a tenure-track 1 lecturer at the Barcelona School of Informatics. He is also a member of the MPI research group at the same university, specialized in software engineering, databases and information systems. His research interests are data warehousing, OLAP tools, multidimensional modeling, the semantic web and ontologies. He is the author of articles and papers presented and published in national and international conferences and journals on these subjects.

Nacéra Bennacer is currently a full professor at the Computer Science Department of Supélec and member of E3S Laboratory. She has a PhD in computer science from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM-Paris) and receives her accreditation to supervise research (HdR) from University Paris-sud. She heads the Data Support and Business Intelligence (DSBI) master's Programme of Ecole Centrale de Paris (ECP). Her research interests include semantic-based extraction information from Web resources, ontology-based and user-centric information retrieval by covering semi-structured data, Linked Open Data and social networks data.

Antoine Cornuéjols is full professor of Computer Science at the AgroParisTech Engineering school in Paris where he heads the research group LINK 5Learning and INtegration of Knowledge). After graduating from a Grande Ecole in France, he got a Master of Science degree at UCLA and a Ph.D at Orsay University in Paris. His research interests have encompassed several topics over the years like the study of reasoning processes in Cognitive Science, bioinformatics, on-line learning and the study of phase transitions in learning structured models of the world. He is co-author of a reference textbook on Machine Learning in French as well as co-author of the book “Phase Transitions in Machine Learning”. He serves as reviewer for several national and international journals and conferences. He teaches courses about Machine Learning at undergraduate and graduate levels, specially about collaborative learning and on-line learning.

Jean-Daniel Fekete is a Senior Research Scientist at INRIA, one of the leading French national research centers, located in Orsay in the University Paris-Sud. He leads the AVIZ team since 2007, which focuses on Visual Analytics. AVIZ studies the analysis and visualization of large datasets, combining machine learning approaches with information visualization and multiscale interaction techniques to help analysts explore and understand massive data. Jean-Daniel's research topics include network visualization, evaluation of information visualization systems, and toolkits for user interfaces and information visualization. His research is applied in several fields such as biology, business intelligence and social network analysis.

Valentina Ferretti holds a PhD in Environment and Territory – Estimate and evaluation (2011, Technical University of Turin). Her areas of expertise encompasses (i) Decision analysis, (ii) Urban planning and environmental impact assessment procedures and (iii) spatial multi-criteria evaluation. Her research focuses on the study of methodologies, techniques and tools designed to support sustainability assessments of projects, plans and programs in the field of territorial transformation processes. One of her papers, concerning the integration of Multicriteria Analysis and Geographic Information Systems for locating undesirable facilities, was awarded the Wiley Practice Prize in 2011. Her Ph.D. thesis got the Giorgio Leonardi’s prize in 2012 within the XXXIII Annual Scientific Conference of the Italian Association on Regional Sciences. She has held research visiting positions at the London School of Economics (UK), at the University of Pittsburgh (US), at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation – ITC, University of Twente, Enschede (The Netherlands) and at the LAMSADE, Université Paris Dauphine (France) as Assistant Professor.

As research engineer at Thomson (1981-1988) in the field of computer languages and formal grammars, Gabriel Kepeklian – INSA 1981 (National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon) – has developed compilers and designed HPC (supercomputer) control languages. Later, he was architect of new information systems of the financial institution Altus Finance (1989-1993), product manager at Promind (1994-1997), founder of Salazie, a company specialized in the processing of logistic and cartographic data (1995-2001). He has joined ATOS in 1997 and is now R&D director. The projects he is working on are focused in web of data and linked data technologies. Gabriel Kepeklian is currently Chairman of the Datalift association, in charge of promoting the development of web data, research, innovation and any activity in the fields of linked data and web of data.

Achim Goeres, Dr. rer. nat, is born 1956 in Germany. He is Coach, Physicist and Musician.
After studies and 7 years of postdoctoral research in Astrophysics at the Technical University of Berlin, Goeres attended a curriculum of Processwork (1992-1998) on the basis of Process Oriented Psychology by Arnold Mindell. After his certificate as Processmoderator and several additional trainings in Improvisation Theater and bodywork, he works as freelancer as a consultant and facilitator since 1998. He supervises managers, companies and non-profit projects and teaches cross-cultural communications and conflict work at different universities. With Tanja Hetzer he founded the Hanuman Institut in Berlin for consultancy, training, facilitation and research in 2008.

Dr. Ralf-Detlef Kutsche has a position as Academic Director in the “Database and Information Management DIMA” group at TU Berlin.

He studied Mathematics at FU Berlin, focusing on Numerical Mathematics, and Computer Science (as a minor at TU Berlin). After the diploma degree we has worked as scientist in Theoretical Computer Science at TU Berlin, then in applications of formal methods to clinical information systems at German Heart Institute Berlin, concluding his Ph.D. in this area.

As senior scientist at TU chair “Computation and Information Structures CIS”, he started building up the focus area “Heterogeneous Distributed Information Systems”. At the same time he was scientific coordinator, project leader and member of the board of leaders with the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST. For an intermediate period of more than 30 months, Dr. Kutsche acted as provisional head of the CIS group. He is advisor of many diploma theses at TU Berlin and (co-)advisor of several Ph.D. dissertations within the Graduate School Distributed Information Systems, at TU Berlin, at Fraunhofer ISST, and at other universities.

His hot topics in teaching and research are model building and modeling methodology, focusing on “model-based semantic integration of heterogeneous information systems”. Dr. Kutsche has many publications in the foundations and applications of this area, as well as comprehensive experience in national and international project leadership. In the past years, he was (co-)chair of several international conferences, and invited speaker in conferences, international cooperations and with industry. Presently, he is Science Chair of the BIZWARE initiative, after BIZYCLE a second large-scale project of TU Berlin and industry (SMEs), funded by German BMBF. Beside his activities at TU Berlin, he is engaged as research coordinator ‘Modeling’ at the institute Fraunhofer FIRST.

Volker Markl is a Full Professor and Chair of the Database Systems and Information Management (DIMA) group at the Technische Universität Berlin (TU-Berlin). Prior to joining TU-Berlin, Dr. Markl lead a research group at FORWISS, the Bavarian Research Center for Knowledge-based Systems in Munich, Germany, and was a Research Staff member & Project Leader at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California, USA. His research interests include: information as a service, new hardware architectures for information management, information integration, autonomic computing, query processing, query optimization, data warehousing, electronic commerce, and pervasive computing.

Volker has presented over 100 invited talks in numerous industrial settings and at major conferences and research institutions worldwide. He has authored and published more than 50 research papers at world-class scientific venues. Volker regularly serves as member and chair for program committees of major international database conferences. He also is a member of the Board of Trustees of the VLDB Endowment. Volker has 5 patent awards, and he has submitted over 20 invention disclosures to date. Over the course of his career, he has garnered many prestigious awards, including the European Information Society and Technology Prize, an IBM Outstanding Technological Achievement Award, an IBM Shared University Research Grant, an HP Open Innovation Award, and the Pat Goldberg Memorial Best Paper Award.
