Internal Quality Evaluation

IT4BI has developed an internal quality evaluation of the overall programme effected by several actors:

  • Students: Three types of questionnaires are requested to students. For each course taken, a questionnaire addresses the contents, learning objectives, instructors, course material, workload, examination and assessment, etc. At the end of their study period (a semester) at a given partner, a questionnaire addresses the overall pedagogical aspects (course complementarity, relevance, etc.) and the logistical aspects (welcome, housing, administrative support, etc.). Finally, upon completion of the programme, a questionnaire for assessing the overall programme addresses academic quality, social and cultural activities, services provided, mobility, employability opportunities, etc.;
  • Professors: A questionnaire requested to professors for each course addresses student selection, prerequisites, performance, language skills, student interest for industry and/or for research, etc.

The questionnaires are available to all partners. The CO is responsible for the analysis of these reports, and the StrCo is responsible to take any necessary corrective action. The quality evaluation procedures in IT4BI are complemented by those already in place in their HEIs. All consortium partners have quality assurance systems for academic and research activities.

External Quality Evaluation

All partner HEIs are among the best ranked institutions at the national and international levels. According to national laws, their academic and research activities are under regular external evaluations undertaken by recognised agencies, all of which belong to European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). The diploma-issuing capacity of all partner HEIs depend on such evaluations. This guarantees the quality of the academic and research activities surrounding IT4BI students and scholars.

In addition to these national procedures, the consortium will ensure an efficient external monitoring of the programme, both at the academic and administrative level. For this, an External Evaluation Committee (ExtEvCo) will be set up, composed of external actors and IT4BI former students. Representatives of other EMMCs will be invited to the ExtEvCo. In this regard, the consortium has already received a commitment from the EMMC in Data Mining and Knowledge Management (DMKM).
