The Master Programme

  • What does IT4BI mean?
    • IT4BI means Information Technology for Business Intelligence

 

  • What is IT4BI?
    • IT4BI is a 2-year, English-language programme jointly delivered by Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium, Université François Rabelais Tours (UFRT) in France, Ecole Centrale Paris (ECP) in France, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Spain, and Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) in Germany.

 

  • What is the tuition language? Do I need to speak French, Spanish or German?
    • There is no need to speak French, Spanish or German to follow the courses, all technical courses are in English, and language course for the above languages are part of the programme.

 

  • Can the degree be finished sooner than 2 years? If I take courses during summer and winter breaks?
    • No.

 

  • Can any course be taken online other than in classroom?
    • No.

 

  • Can I enrol in the programme part-time?
    • No. The Erasmus Mundus joint master's degree programmes are a full-time programmes.

 

Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ Programme

  • What is Erasmus+?
    • Erasmus+ is the new European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020. In the field of higher education, Erasmus+ supports the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, which are high-level integrated international study programmes delivered by consortia of higher education institutions that award full degree scholarships to the best master students worldwide.

 

  • Where can I find a FAQ about the Erasmus+ Programme?

 

Students

Application and eligibility

  • What is the application procedure? How to submit CVs, letters of reference, transcripts, etc.? Are there templates for these documents?

 

 

  • Can I apply if I do not have obtained my Bachelor yet?
    • Candidates applying to IT4BI who do not have yet obtained the bachelor degree at the time of application deadline, may nevertheless apply to the Master. In this case, if accepted, it will be conditional.
      Students applying for a scholarship must upload proof of obtained bachelor degree no later than the deadlines specified in the IT4BI website.

 

  • Can I apply if I don't have a bachelor of science with major in computer science, but I have working experience in business intelligence?
    • Indeed, you can apply to IT4BI, but students with major in Computer Science will be ranked higher. Please provide as much information as possible about your working experience in the domain of BI or Computer Science in general in order to counterbalance the fact that you don't have a major in Computer Science. That will increase your ranking.

 

  • What about the document to upload providing the English test results if English is my mother language and /or if I did my studies in English?Is my IELTS test (General Training) equivalent to IELTS (Academic) that the IT4BI requires? Is institutional TOEFL (ITP TOEFL) accepted as a proof of English proficiency? What if my test validity has expired?

 

 

Scholarships

 

  • Are scholarships available?
    • Yes, the Erasmus+ programme provides EU-funded scholarships to students who have been selected by the consortium. The scholarship amount depends on the origin of the selected student.

 

  • Who can apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship?
    • The Erasmus+ programme distinguishes students who are nationals or residents of Programme Countries and Partner countries. Programme countries students are:

       

      • Students who are nationals or residents of one of the 28 EU Member States: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, UK, Sweden, Bulgaria, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Croatia.
      • Students who are nationals or residents of one of the following countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYRoM).
      • Students who have resided or carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than 12 months over the past five years (counted backward starting from the end of February following the official deadline for application to the master) in any of the above countries. For applicants applying for student intake in 2015, this is the period from March 1, 2010 to February 28, 2015.

       

      Students of Partner Countries are all other students.

 

  • What is the maximum amount of the Erasmus+ scholarship?
    • The maximum scholarship amount for students from Partner Countries is €24,000 per year. The maximum scholarship amount for students from Programme Countries is €17,000 per year.

 

  • What does the Erasmus+ scholarship cover? Do Erasmus+ scholarships cover all expenses?
    • Erasmus+ scholarships are meant to cover tuition fees, participation costs (including insurance coverage), contribute to cover travel cost and installation cost, and include a monthly allowance.

Tuition Fees

  • What are the tuition fees?
    • Tuition fees are 4,000 € / year for European students and 8,000 € /year for other students.

 

  • Is accommodation included in registration fees?
    • No.

 

 

Services

 

  • What provision do you have for accommodation, how will that be co-ordinated or where will I stay?
    • IT4BI local administrative managers secure housing for every student at every place of study.

 

  • Is there a provision for work-study (Studying while also working at the college / or other place obtained by college)? Can this scenario be arranged?
    • So far nothing has been arranged by the consortium, but there may be possibilities at each local partner delivering the degree. We are working on that particular issue. Note also that if you are granted the scholarship, the UE does not allow to work while studying since Erasmus Mundus scholarships are intended for full time studies only.

  • Who can apply as a visiting scholar? What is the application procedure?

 

Scholarships

 

  • Are scholarships available for scholars?
    • Yes, the sholarship is € 1 200 / week for a minimum duration of 2 weeks and a maximum duration of 3 months per scholar.

 

  • What does the scholarship cover?
    • Travel cost contribution, Additional allowance (depending on the length of academic exchange)
